Hanging words on music has been a lifelong pursuit for Don Wellman (AKA: don.man). It earned a suspension from Detroit’s prestigious Cass Technical High School and followed him throughout his career as a copywriter and video producer. When the time came to attempt a novel, it seemed only natural that its theme should comprise launching ideas over the airwaves through words and music.
Working alternately on brochures for Dow Chemical, lyrics for local rock bands, and an evolving storyline, the manuscript for THE NEW TEN came together along with eleven original song demos that share its DNA – with lyrics created to represent each chapter’s essential idea.
Today, Wellman lives steps away from Woodward Avenue in Ferndale, Michigan, and THE NEW TEN resides as a combination of words, music, and moving images at thenewten.com.
